This Torah portion opens with the drama of sending the 12 spies into the Land and their return with answers to the questions of Moshe, which he charged them with before they set out. These twelve men were not just anyone but leaders of their tribes.

This Torah portion begins with Moses sending out the 12 men to go into Canaan to check out the best way to approach taking the land that G-d had promised them. It ends with the commandment of tzitzit. As we examine this section I believe we can see a common thread going through out.

Today we talk about one of the major turning points of the time in the wilderness, the sin of the 10 spies and the bad report they brought back about the land of promise. I want us to take several things in this Parasha and see how they might help us to shed light on verses in the New Testament.
