Tzav (Command) Vayikra/Leviticus 6:1-8:36

Tzav(Command)Vayikra/Leviticus 6:1-8:36

Haftorah Reading: Jeremiah 7:21-9:24

Today we will look at the Torah portion Tzav or Command. I would like us to pay special attention to Leviticus 8:19 where it speaks of the setting apart of Aaron and his sons. Aaron was High Priest and his sons were priests to the L-rd. They were to serve as the priests in the Tabernacle and later their descendants as priests in the temple in Jerusalem.

B’midbar (In the Desert) Num./B’midbar 1:1-4:20

 B’midbar (In the Desert) Numbers/B’midbar 1:1-4:20

Haftorah Reading: Hosea 1:10-2:20

Messianic Scripture  Luke 2:1-7, I Cor. 12:12-31

Today we begin the fourth book of the Torah. In English it is named Numbers. This English name has no connection to the Hebrew name of this book, B’midbar, or “In the Desert.” Having said that it is easy to understand the English choice of Numbers. The book begins with G-d speaking to Moshe and telling him to take a census of the people.

Rosh Hashanah 2020

Rosh Hashanah

Today is the Biblical holiday of Rosh Hashanah (Head of the Year). This holiday begins the weeks of the High Holy Days. In ten days we will observe Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement. Exactly two weeks from today we will celebrate Sukkot or Tabernacles. I pray each of you have the opportunity to participate in at least one of these three appointed times.
