Road to Zion

Noah (B’resheet) Genesis 6-11

Torah Portion: Noah (B’resheet) Genesis 6:9-11:32

HafTorah: Isaiah 54:1-55:5

Tonight we look at the Torah portion Noah. It covers the flood and in some ways, the second creation, in that G-d judged the earth saving only Noah and his family, which are the ancestors of each of us. We go on to see the erection of the Tower of Babel, which G-d stopped by confusing the languages of the people of the earth, thus dispersing them across the face of the earth. The portion ends by introducing us to Avram for the first time.

Re’eh (See) Deut 11-16

Torah Portion: Re’eh (See) Devarim Deut. 11:26-16:17

HafTorah: Isaiah 54:11-55:5

Tonight we read a section of Torah that speaks to many areas of our spiritual life. I pray you see it in that light. It is a guidebook on how to live each day of our walk both practically and spiritually. So let’s look at some things from these verses and see what they say to us.

Korach Numbers (B’Midbar) 16-18

Torah Portion: Korach Numbers 16-18

HafTorah: I Sam. 11:14-12:22

This week’s Torah section is full of spiritual lessons for us. The main part of this Parasha concerns Korach and the rebellion led by him against Moses and Aaron. I want us to look at this rebellion in some detail and see what life spiritual lessons we can draw from it.

Nitzavim (Standing) Deut 29

Torah Portion: Nitzavim (Standing) (Deut.) 29:9-30:20

HafTorah: Isaiah 61:10-63:9

NT Romans 9:30-10:13; Hebrews 12:14-15

Before we really get into our study, I want to share something with you that I read this week. Israel became a state in May 1948. The Hebrew year when this occurred was 5708. Now to the interesting part: This week we read in Deut. 30:3, “The L-rd our G-d will bring you back from captivity and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where He has scattered you.” The article I read said this is the 5708th verse in Torah. If this is correct, and I didn’t count to see, what an orderly G-d we serve. Thousands of years ago G-d led Moses to speak this verse that would corresponds exactly to when the State of Israel would be formed. He is faithful, He is always faithful to Israel and to us. He is worthy of our trust, our love and faith in Him.
